iMessage on my Mac stopped working and I fixed it with this…

Can you tell I am on vacation with three blog posts in less than 24 hours?

Anyway, this problem has gone on for about a week for me and since I am on vacation I decided to solve it. After scouring the net and mostly the Apple support site I got some clues about what the problem might be. About a week ago I upgraded my Flash player and I also ran into some KeyChain problems because of my password change. The solution for me was to Block all sites from storing information on this computer in the Flash Player settings:

Then I deleted all certificates related to Apple in my Keychain panel.

I am going to play around and turn the Flash Player setting back on because I just can’t believe this is part of the problem. It does make sense that my certificates got corrupted during the password change.

Getting and setting check boxes with jQuery

Getting and setting check boxes in jQuery is a lot easier than setting radio buttons and we can thank the “prop” function for that.

Here is the HTML, notice each check box has its own Id, that is the key so the jQuery selector can get at the “checked” property:

Getting the value is a single line call and it can be stored in a boolean:

pillar_buy = $('#screen_pillar_buy').prop( "checked");

Setting is just as easy:

$('#screen_pillar_buy').prop( "checked", pillar_buy );

CKEditor comes to the Eclipse platform!

I am not sure if this is the first time the CKEditor has been ported to the Eclipse platform but today I noticed on the Eclipse.org marketplace site there is a new plugin for editing HTML files using the CKEditor. I do know years ago we considered doing this for the Lotus Notes client. This also means if you bundle this feature with your RCP application you can also have the CKEditor!

What I really like about the way this plugin is bundled is it actually uses the CKEditor directory structure as is. Meaning, you can enhance the editor with its own plugins if you want. Sort of like a plugin within a plugin.

Great job to Konstantin Zaitcev for getting this done!

CoreMedia Part 2 – Image maps and site style!

Screen Shot 2013-11-24 at 8.25.08 PMIn this video I continue the kids micro-site story and I demonstrate how easy it is to construct image maps with CoreMedia. We are going to create a new banner that has mouse over popups (image map) of products in the picture and place the banner on the kids mirco-site.

I demonstrate how you can select products from the WebSphere Commerce catalog and link them to hotspot areas on the image. I end this video showing how you can customize the look and feel for the kids landing page.

You can learn more about CoreMedia and their LiveContext for IBM WebSphere Commerce at their site, click here.

Xtify is now running on my blog!

xtify-iphoneSo I am playing around with Xtify and I pretty impressed with this technology and I am even more impressed with management of the messages/alerts. Don’t know what Xtify is? Watch the video at the end of this blog post.

I simply went to Xtify.com and signed up for the free Reactor service. The service is free if you stay below the 5,000 views per month. Unfortunately my blog gets a lot more than that so we will see what happens.

What do you think of YouTube channel trailers?

youtubeI had a channel trailer on my Youtube channel for a while and I actually found it annoying. I don’t like click on a link or a page and immediately launching into a video with sound. It is similar to going to a news site and a side movie (advertisement) starts playing immediately.

What are your thoughts on YouTube channel trailers?
