One of the best blog posts I have read in a long time

So I woke up this morning and started reading on PlanetEclipse and I found a blog gem – Meet Butterflyzer Part I: Is this any way to develop a product? by Miles Parker. Miles hit on so many interesting points that I will only cover a couple here, read his article if you want to see the rest of them. Informative, provocative, and well written!

This is one of the most interesting blog posts I have read in a long time. Miles talks about his project “Butterflyzer” and how he created it. What I really found interesting is what Miles says in the setup of the post. Talking about AI, Watson and how we should really be using computers. His opinions on rich client applications are very similar to mine – sometime the rich client just makes sense, like TweetDeck for instance. I tried for several days to use TweetDeck for Chrome and it just wasn’t the same as TweetDeck the rich application. Ok, back to the real meat of his post. His tool, “Butterflyzer”, analyzes data in a similar way Watson does and provides a user interface to assist a human to digest that data and “act” on it.

While the evergreen challenge for AI seems to be creating software that comes up with good answers to hard questions, I’m more challenged by the idea of creating software that comes up with good questions that have no answers.  —link
