As many probably know, I served seven years in the United States Marines. It was an experience of a lifetime and a time I will always cherish and never forget. I learned discipline and I learned what strength in a team really means. I learned the importance of trust and I learned what it means to rely on someone else like a brother or a sister. I am still in contact with many of the Marines I met throughout those years and even though I am not in contact with them daily I would trust every one of them with my life.
I pray for all of the Marines out there fighting for our country.
I also want to give out a special recognition to my godson Brandon Zapata who was the best little Marine out there. We pray for you buddy and we miss you.
Take some time today to recognize a Marine. Today is the Marine Corps 234th birthday.
During the American Revolution, many important political discussions took place in the inns and taverns of Philadelphia, including the founding of the Marine Corps.
A committee of the Continental Congress met at Tun Tavern to draft a resolution calling for two battalions of Marines able to fight for independence at sea and on shore.
The resolution was approved on November 10, 1775, officially forming the Continental Marines.
